President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, as Director of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of his 2027 re-election campaign. The appointment places Keyamo in charge of coordinating air transportation and aviation logistics for the ruling party’s nationwide presidential campaign. The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, was also appointed Deputy Director I, while the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, will serve as Deputy Director II.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Sunday, October 25, 2026, by Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood. According to the statement, the directorate will coordinate air travel arrangements for designated campaign officials and personnel, facilitate movement across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and work with other campaign structures to ensure effective scheduling and deployment of logistical resources. The statement noted that Keyamo’s experience in aviation administration, alongside the technical expertise of his deputies, would strengthen the campaign’s capacity to manage nationwide air operations.
The statement further emphasised that the directorate must comply with applicable aviation safety regulations and electoral laws while maintaining a clear distinction between political campaign activities and official government functions. It stressed that campaign-related arrangements must be undertaken through properly authorised channels. The appointments form part of preparations by the APC Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s bid to secure a second term in office in the 2027 general election.
