The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Abdulmajid Halifa Nazifi before the Kano State High Court over the alleged misappropriation of ₦34.875 million meant for the purchase of spaghetti from BUA.
Nazifi was arraigned on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, before Justice Musa Karaye on a one-count charge of criminal misappropriation involving funds belonging to Fahad Balarabe Adaji.
According to the charge, the alleged offence occurred between September and October 2024 in Kano State. The prosecution alleged that the money was transferred, on the defendant’s instruction, into the First Bank account of one Muazu Abdullahi for the purchase of IRS spaghetti from BUA.
However, the EFCC accused Nazifi of diverting the funds for personal use instead of completing the intended transaction.
The alleged offence contravenes Section 308 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State and is punishable under Section 309 of the same law.
When the charge was read to him in court, Nazifi pleaded not guilty.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel, Mustapha Maiwada, requested that the court fix a date for trial and order the defendant’s remand in a correctional facility.
Justice Karaye granted the request and ordered that Nazifi be remanded in a correctional centre.
The court subsequently adjourned the case until November 2, 2026, for further hearing.
