The Oyo State Government has issued an advisory urging residents to prepare for severe temperatures as the dry season approaches, highlighting the need for water conservation and health precautions against heat-related ailments.
State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Ademola Aderinto, issued the directive following forecasts warning of prolonged dry spells and elevated temperatures linked to broader climate shifts.
To cope with the extreme weather, residents have been advised to stay hydrated, maintain proper ventilation, wear lightweight clothing, and plant trees to naturally reduce ambient heat. The government also emphasized efficient water usage, cautioning households and businesses against waste.
Furthermore, authorities warned the public to monitor for symptoms of heat stress—such as dizziness, headaches, and nausea—and to treat suspected cases of heatstroke as immediate medical emergencies.
