A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to enter his defence in a criminal suit regarding the alleged unlawful interception of telephone communications belonging to National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik handed down the directive after throwing out a no-case submission filed by El-Rufai’s legal team, which had sought to have the charges dismissed.
Delivering her ruling, the judge held that the prosecution successfully established sufficient evidence, meeting the threshold required to demand a response from the former governor.
With the dismissal of the application, El-Rufai is now expected to present his defence, call witnesses, or put forward legal arguments as proceedings continue.
