Man docked for allegedly stealing 7 cows worth N5.6m

A 47-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, was on Thursday docked in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly defrauding a couple of seven cows worth N5.6million.

The police charged the defendant with fraud and theft.

The prosecution counsel, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant and another suspect at large on Sept. 9, 2022, at about 8:30p.m at Epe area of Lagos State conspired and stole seven cows worth N5.6 million.

Ikhayere, who said the cows belong to Mr and Mrs Ibrahim Chede, alleged that the defendant sold the cows but failed to remit the money to them.

According to her, the offence is punishable under Section 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Lateef Owolabi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Owolabi ordered that one of the sureties must be a civil servant.

He adjourned the case until Aug. 12, for hearing. (NAN)
