Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 elections, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has inaugurated the PBAT/KOH Lagos Central Campaign Office, calling on party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The campaign office, located on Joseph Harden Street, Lagos Island, was inaugurated on Monday, October 12, 2026, as part of preparations by the APC to coordinate political activities and strengthen its presence across the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hamzat urged Lagos residents to participate actively in the electoral process, particularly in the presidential and governorship elections. He maintained that the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would provide an opportunity for the administration to continue its ongoing programmes.
The Deputy Governor expressed concern over voter apathy in Lagos, noting that the state’s large number of registered voters had not consistently translated into substantial electoral participation.
He urged party members to encourage eligible voters to exercise their franchise, stressing that effective grassroots mobilisation would be essential to the APC’s electoral objectives in 2027.
Hamzat also emphasised President Tinubu’s longstanding political relationship with Lagos, describing the state as an important part of the President’s political base.
In his remarks, the Senator representing Lagos Central, Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni, described the inauguration as an important development for the party’s political organisation in the district.
He urged members to remain united, maintain discipline and strengthen their engagement with residents across communities, markets and households.
The Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, said the campaign office would serve as a coordinating centre between the party’s state leadership and its structures at the local government, ward and polling-unit levels.
Ojelabi encouraged party members to engage residents on government policies and programmes while urging eligible voters who had yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to do so.
He also called for peaceful and issue-based political campaigns ahead of the elections.
Similarly, the Director-General of the PBAT/KOH Lagos Campaign Organisation, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, described the facility as an important platform for coordinating political activities across the senatorial district.
Obanikoro said the office would support stakeholder engagement, campaign planning and grassroots mobilisation across Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Apapa and Eti-Osa.
The campaign headquarters, situated at No. 2 Joseph Harden Street, opposite the Eleganza Building, off Broad Street, contains 16 offices, a 500-seat auditorium, two conference rooms, a clinic and an outdoor event space.
The inauguration comes as political parties and campaign organisations intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with voter participation and grassroots engagement emerging as major issues in Lagos State.
The APC’s mobilisation efforts also follow the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, when Labour Party candidate Peter Obi defeated Tinubu in Lagos State, despite the latter’s longstanding political influence in the state.
According to the declared results, Obi secured 582,454 votes against Tinubu’s 572,606, highlighting the competitive electoral environment in the state ahead of 2027.
