African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Ekiti State Government House of orchestrating a violent assault against him and his associates in Ado-Ekiti.
The incident occurred shortly after Sowore concluded a radio interview at MIDAS FM, when armed men reportedly descended on his team. Sowore alleged that security operatives provided his exact location and operational support to the assailants.
Key Highlights of the Incident:
- The Attack and Hospitalization: Sowore and several team members sustained injuries during the assault and were subsequently admitted to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.
- Allegations Against Security Agencies: The activist-politician claimed that state-backed thugs carried out the operation with the active connivance of the DSS, which he accused of tracking his movements since arriving in the state.
- Dispute Over Police Response: Sowore strongly criticized the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly trivializing the violence by describing the victims’ wounds as “minor injuries,” while the police subsequently confirmed the arrest of suspects in connection with the incident.
