The Anambra State Government has arraigned a 35-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusi, before the Anambra State High Court in Awka over allegations of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation involving her two daughters, aged seven and nine.
Onyeanusi was brought before the court on a 14-count charge bordering on alleged sexual abuse, exploitation and the production of pornographic materials involving the minors.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant sexually abused the children with a sex toy and compelled them to participate in sexual activities and the production of pornographic content.
According to the charges, the alleged offences occurred between November 2025 and September 2026 at the defendant’s residence on Ezego Ojoto Street, Akpaka GRA, Onitsha.
The charges include allegations of rape, sexual abuse and exploitation, compelling minors to engage in sexual activities, emotional and psychological abuse, and acts allegedly intended to place the children in fear of physical injury.
The prosecution, led by the Anambra State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, alleged that the defendant knowingly and intentionally penetrated the children’s vagina, anus and mouth with a sex toy.
The charges were brought under relevant provisions of the Anambra State Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2017, and the Child’s Rights Law, 2006.
When the case came up before the court, Onyeanusi pleaded not guilty to all 14 counts.
Following her plea, her counsel, Chikodili Nwaka-Ohuoha, applied for bail on her behalf.
Justice Peace Otti, who presides over the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka, adjourned the matter until November 27, 2026, for a ruling on the bail application.
The allegations remain before the court, and the defendant has denied all 14 charges.
