A Friendly Word of Advice to My Good Friend and Mentor, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN

Steve Sun and Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN

One day, in the lead up to the 2018 NBA Presidential Election (fiercely contested by AOOSAN, PUSAN, TEACHER & MAZI), we were just gisting in one of our circles and someone asked, “is Mazi seriously contesting this election or what??” and my response was simply “de play.”

This is therefore an Ode to you sir.

You came
You saw and
You conquered.

King Pyrrhus of Epirus, fought and won glorious, hard-fought battles against the Roman Republic at the Battle of Heraclea in 280 BCE, etc..

In the Battle of Asculum in 279 BCE; though he triumphed on the field, his losses were so heavy and irreplaceable.

After the Battle of Asculum, he remarked that another such victory would ruin him, giving birth to the term “Pyrrhic victory.”

In the end, he lost a much smaller engagement at the Battle of Beneventum in 275 BCE, forced to abandon Italy, and was finally killed in a chaotic, small-scale street skirmish in Argos by a roof tile thrown by an old woman.

My dear outgoing President sir, you have won many major battles.

Do not repeat Donald Trump’s mistakes.

The swift way American forces went in and captured Venezuelan President, Nicholas Maduro, gave him the impression that such exploits can be replicated in Iran; but Iran has turned out to be a much harder nut 🥜 to crack!

Don’t allow your exploits in the SPIDEL & NBA-National Officers Elections to give you the impression that such exploits can be replicated in PH Branch.

Do not unduly meddle in PH Branch sir.

A roof tile thrown by an old woman may very well land on ya head. 😏😏😒

If you must intervene in the election sir, just maintain neutrality; any person wey suppose win, make e win.

God Bless and Long Live the NBA.
