Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed reports claiming he reached an agreement with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to share legislative and local government positions ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reacting through a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the rumors as “mere fabrication and fake news”.
Key Highlights of the Governor’s Stance:
- Presidential Alliance Only: Adeleke reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, explaining that any existing political coalition is strictly targeted at securing victory in the presidential race.
- Legislative Openness: He maintained that all legislative seats—including the Senate, House of Representatives, and the State House of Assembly—remain fully open for democratic competition, stating that he will actively campaign for candidates under the Accord party.
- Local Government Matter: Addressing ongoing discussions regarding local councils, the governor noted that current administrative talks are focused strictly on restoring grassroots governance and protecting the interests of both APC and PDP stakeholders prior to the polls.
