Skyview Properties Limited has reaffirmed its ownership of a disputed property in Lekki, Lagos, saying it legally acquired the land in 2008 and that its title was upheld by the Lagos State High Court.

The company made the clarification amid reports challenging its claim to the property and questioning the involvement of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Moshood Jimoh.

In a statement signed on its behalf by Daniel Itua, Skyview said it acquired the property from a previous owner who had bought it from the original owner, Samuel Alao Ajibode.

The firm maintained that a judgment delivered by Justice K.A. Jose of the Lagos State High Court on June 30, 2025, recognised its ownership of the land.

The property is identified as Plot 37, Block 77, Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1, Lagos.

According to Skyview, the court granted an order of perpetual injunction restraining the first defendant, his agents and privies from trespassing on the property or harassing the company, its workers, agents and representatives over the land.

The company said it returned to the site to commence development only after the judgment was delivered, insisting that no subsisting court order prevents it from accessing or developing the property.

Skyview also defended Jimoh’s intervention in the dispute, saying his involvement was aimed at maintaining peace between the parties.

It said that when alleged violence was reported at the site, the police advised the parties to await the outcome of the court proceedings, noting that the matter was already before the court.

The company described allegations against it and the police officer as an attempt to create public sympathy for a party it said had no legal entitlement to the land.

Skyview insisted that it possessed the relevant documents supporting its claim and said it would not be deterred from exercising its rights under the court judgment.

The dispute centres on competing claims over the Lekki property, with the company maintaining that the 2025 judgment settled the question of ownership in its favour.
