Oshanugor’s book on crime reporting for public presentation today

A new book on crime journalism by Editor-in-Chief of Atlanticnewsonline, Mr. Frank Oshanugor, will be publicly presented in Lagos, today.

The book, Crime Beat Reporting in Nigeria, will be unveiled at 10 am, at Osun Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. Dignitaries from the security, banking and maritime sectors are expected at the event.

Chairman of the presentation committee and Vanguard Crime Editor, Emma Nnadozie, said the ceremony would be chaired by a former military intelligence officer, Dr. Davidson Akhimien. The book will be presented by industrialist, Chief Richard Agbapuru, while Prof. Chijioke Uwasomba of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, will review it.

Veteran journalist and Queen of Apomu, Osun State, Olori Janet Afolabi, will serve as Mother of the Day.

Nnadozie said the book is a product of Oshanugor’s experiences in crime reporting, noting it would be valuable to Mass Communication students and media practitioners interested in the history and practice of crime journalism in Nigeria.

Oshanugor, a University of Port Harcourt graduate, holds a Master’s in Political Science from University of Lagos and a Diploma in Mass Communication from Auchi Polytechnic. He is also a Certified Protection Officer of International Foundation for Protection Officers, Miami, United States.

He has spent about 30 years in journalism, rising to Deputy News Editor at the defunct Post Express, and previously published Security Express magazine for seven years.

His earlier book, Terrorism: The Nigeria Experience (1995–1998), was published in 2004.
