The BBOLD Campaign has described the election of Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, as President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association as the outcome of a disciplined campaign built around inclusion, professional welfare and institutional reform.

Badejo-Okusanya emerged victorious in the 2026 NBA National Officers Election after polling 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the 26,106 ballots cast in the presidential contest.

Her election makes her the 33rd President of the NBA and the second woman to lead the Association since its establishment in 1933. She will serve a two-year term covering 2026 to 2028. Channels Television

The victory followed months of nationwide engagements under the campaign theme, “A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone.” Through the campaign, Badejo-Okusanya presented an agenda focused on improving the economic prospects and professional lives of Nigerian lawyers.

Her campaign drew support from coordinators, volunteers and lawyers across the branches of the Association, with its message centred on building an NBA that is more responsive to the needs of its members.

Following the declaration of the result, Badejo-Okusanya thanked lawyers for the confidence reposed in her and acknowledged the contributions of the BBOLD Campaign Council, coordinators, volunteers, supporters, friends and members of her family.

She also commended her fellow presidential candidates for their participation in the democratic process and expressed her readiness to work with them in advancing the interests of the legal profession.

The President-elect called for unity within the Association, stressing that the conclusion of the election should mark the beginning of collective efforts to strengthen the NBA and defend justice and the rule of law.

Badejo-Okusanya pledged to lead with integrity, humility, courage, fairness and accountability, while serving members irrespective of the candidates they supported during the election.

Her administration is expected to pursue the BBOLD campaign’s central commitment to creating an Association in which lawyers can earn better, live better and practise better.

With the campaign concluded, attention will now shift from electoral promises to the work of translating the BBOLD agenda into measurable improvements for lawyers and the wider legal profession.
