Lawyer demands alleged N83.3m outstanding sum from firm

Court 1

A lawyer, Mr. Ademola Adefolaju, has written to PWAN Group Limited, demanding payment of an alleged outstanding sum of N83.3 million on behalf of his client, Dhairmistress Luxury Hair.

According to the lawyer, his client entered into investment-related agreements with the real estate company and expected returns totaling N88.3 million under the terms of the transactions.  In a letter addressed to the company, Adefolaju stated that his client had received N5 million from PWAN Group on May 29, 2026, but maintained that an outstanding balance of N83.3 million remained unpaid.

The lawyer said the demand arose from two transactions, which he claimed amounted to N79.8 million and N8.5 million respectively, bringing the total claimed obligation to N88.3 million.

He further stated that the N5 million payment did not constitute full settlement of the claim and insisted that the balance remained due.

Part of the letter reads: “We acknowledge receipt of the sum of N5,000,000.00 paid by your company on 29th May 2026. While this payment is noted, it constitutes only a partial payment and does not extinguish your company’s liability.

“For the avoidance of doubt: Amount due under first transaction: N79,800,000.00; Amount due under second transaction: N8,500,000.00; Total indebtedness: N88,300,000.00; Less amount received: N5,000,000.00; Outstanding balance: N83,300,000.00.”

The lawyer gave the company 48 hours to settle the amount claimed by his client, failing which he said legal steps could be taken to recover the money, along with any other reliefs that may be sought.

Adefolaju also referenced certain cheques allegedly issued in connection with the transactions, stating that his client reserved the right to seek appropriate legal and regulatory remedies regarding the matter.

As of the time of filing this report, PWAN Group had not publicly responded to the claims contained in the lawyer’s letter.

Our reporter tried to reach the company for its side of the story, but two numbers linked to it, which Truecaller indicated belong to Nathaniel Okpeh and Joseph Olusegun, were switched off
