A 22-year-old delivery agent, Samuel Uchenna, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing nine iPhones valued at nine million naira.

The defendant, who resides at 58, Jamiu Crescent, Baruwa, in Ipaja, is standing trial on charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

Police prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 19, at Ikeja.

He alleged that a complainant, one Mr Henry Emordi, had entrusted the defendant with nine iphones to deliver them to a recipient, but the phones were never delivered.

Ademigbuji alleged that the defendant later claimed he was robbed while on his way to deliver the items.

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Omolara Kushanu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 29 for mention. -(NAN)
