DELE ADESINA (SAN), MORE OF A FRIEND THAN A BOSS – Ezekiel Afolayan Esq.

I joined the firm of Dele Adesina & Co as a senior counsel in February 2009, and I left on the 1st June, 2016 as Deputy Head of Chambers.

Within d 6month that I joined the firm, I knew in my heart that, the only reason that will make me leave, is when I am ready to set up my own Practice, the promise which I kept.

Looking at him from afar, some misjudge him as proud or arrogance, but, alas, when I moved closer to him, I saw a different man who is simple, God fearing, caring, cherish neatness, cool headed, accommodating,, approachable, humble with listening ears, and thorough. Throughout my over seven years in his firm I can’t remember any time he ever introduced himself to anyone as Dele Adesina SAN. He will simply introduce himself be it over telephone conversation or during physical meetings, as Dele Adesina.

He doesn’t see himself as a boss. He took all of us (counsel) as his friend, in action and indeed. When ever we traveled out of jurisdiction for a matter, he doesn’t segregate himself from us, including his driver.
In our chambers, during chambers discussion, he does not see himself as the boss, he gives everyone freedom to express his/her view on any issue, and when you bring out sound argument which is superior to his own, he will easily tell you “I agree”.

Another thing I can say of Mr Dele Adesina is his love for junior counsel. While I was in d firm, he loves absorbing new wig (regarded by some offices as green horn) that are willing to stay on completion of their youth service, and train them. Some of such counsel are still with him, while some that have left are doing very well in the profession today.
With what I know of Mr Dele Adesina SAN, he is the best candidate to lead our great Association successfully.
