
The Law Week Planning Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja Branch, chaired by Chukwudi Enebeli, SAN, has unveiled a stellar lineup of speakers and activities for the Branch’s highly anticipated Law Week 2026, slated for June 19 to June 25, 2026.
With the theme, “Altering the Status Quo: Going Against the Norm,” the week-long event will bring together legal practitioners, members of the judiciary, policymakers, business leaders, academics, and other stakeholders for critical conversations on law, governance, leadership, economic development, and nation-building.
The programme will commence on Friday, June 19, with a Press Conference at 12:00 PM, followed by a Jumat Service at 1:00 PM. Activities will continue on Saturday, June 20, with a Health Walk and Charity Match at 7:00 AM. On Sunday, June 21, a Church Service and Father’s Day Thanksgiving will hold at 9:00 AM. The special Thanksgiving Service will feature Hon. Justice Polycarp Kwahar, JCA, of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, who will minister at the service.
The official Opening Cocktail powered by Pinheiro LP, is scheduled for Monday, June 22, at 5:00 PM.
One of the major highlights of the week will be the Keynote Address on Tuesday, June 23, at 9:00 AM. The session, themed “Law, Leadership and the Ballot: Governance Beyond Politics,” will be delivered by former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, CON, SAN.
The same day will feature the Young Lawyers Session at 1:00 PM, themed “The Grind Before the Glory,” providing practical insights and inspiration for the next generation of legal practitioners.
On Wednesday, June 24, attention will shift to the Business Forum, themed “Accelerating the Future of the Nigerian Economy.” The discussion will be led by the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, MFR, and is expected to explore pathways for economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
The Bar & Bench Session will follow at 1:00 PM under the theme “What is Expected on the Other Side of the Coin?” The session will provide a platform for candid engagement between members of the Bar and the Bench on issues affecting the administration of justice and professional practice. This session would be moderated by the NBA Ikeja Branch Chairman, Mr. Adeniyi Quadri.
The day’s activities will conclude with the Chairman’s Dinner at 5:00 PM.
The grand finale of Law Week 2026 will hold on Thursday, June 25, with the Alao Aka-Bashorun Memorial Lecture, themed “2027: Building a Nation Where No Man is Oppressed.” The discussion will be led by Femi Falana, SAN, one of Nigeria’s foremost human rights advocates and constitutional lawyers.

While the NBA Ikeja Branch Secretariat (Bar Centre) will host the Press Conference, Health Walk, Church Service and Father’s Day Thanksgiving, and Opening Cocktail, the Old Secretariat Mosque, GRA, Ikeja, located in close proximity to the NBA Ikeja Branch Secretariat, will host the Jumat Service. The prestigious Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja will serve as the venue for all lecture sessions and the Chairman’s Dinner, providing a fitting setting for the flagship engagements of Law Week 2026.
The NBA Ikeja Branch has announced that attendance at the Keynote Address, Young Lawyers Session, Business Forum, Bar & Bench Session, and the Alao Aka-Bashorun Memorial Lecture is free of charge. However, registration is mandatory for all participants.
All lecture sessions are free to attend upon registration, while tickets for the Chairman’s Dinner are available at N50,000 per person.
