Goodwill Message to the NBA Barnawa Branch on the 2026 Law Week

The Bar as a Catalyst for Democratic Strength and National Progress

To the Chairperson, Bukola Ajao, the Executives, and Members of the NBA Barnawa Branch, I send warm congratulations to you all as you host your 2026 Law Week.

This year’s theme cuts to the core of our national conversation: Strengthening Democratic Governance and National Development in Nigeria through Electoral Integrity, Fiscal Responsibility, and the New Tax Regime. These are not abstract topics. They shape how citizens trust institutions, how resources are managed, and how justice is delivered at every level. That the Model Branch is leading this conversation shows your commitment to keeping the Bar engaged with the real issues of the day.

What impresses me about your programme is its balance. You are pairing serious policy dialogue with visits to correctional centres, health walks, and moments for reflection and fellowship. It tells me Barnawa understands that a strong Bar is built on intellect, wellness, and service to the community, not one without the others. That is how you earn the name “Model Branch.”

I am confident that the insights and resolutions from your sessions will feed into broader national discourse and remind us that lawyers have a role beyond litigation. We are custodians of accountability, and our voice matters in shaping a fairer, more transparent system.

May this week deepen your fellowship, sharpen your perspectives, and leave you re-energized for the work ahead. I wish the NBA Barnawa Branch a successful, impactful, and memorable Law Week 2026.

Yours in service,
Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam, Esq, ACIArb(UK), ANICArb, ACIS, AICMC, ACTI.
