THE BALANCE WE MUST KEEP: GOODWILL TO NBA NYANYA-KARU BRANCH AT LAW WEEK 2026
I, Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam, extend warm goodwill to the Chairman, Executive Committee, and distinguished members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Nyanya-Karu Branch, on the occasion of the 2026 Law Week.
Your chosen theme, “The Democratic Equation,” is both timely and incisive. It reminds us that democracy is not automatic — it is a daily calculation of law, accountability, good governance, and the uncompromising protection of fundamental rights. Where any of these variables weaken, the entire equation collapses. As lawyers, we are the constants in that equation: guardians who interpret the law and drivers who insist that power answers to it.
May this Law Week deepen our collective resolve to defend the rule of law, amplify citizens’ voices, and ensure that justice is not a privilege but a right. I commend the Branch for creating a platform that challenges us to reflect, reform, and recommit to the ideals that make democracy endure.
I wish you rich deliberations, impactful sessions, and a memorable Law Week. May the Nyanya-Karu Branch continue to set the bar for purposeful Bar activism.
Congratulations on a successful 2026 Law Week.
