Upholding Justice, Promoting Peace: The Bar’s Quiet Power in a Noisy World – Goodwill Message to the NBA Keffi Branch on the Occasion of the 2026 Law Week
I felicitate with the Chairman, Haruna Iliyasu Favour, Esq., the Executives, Elders, and Esteemed Members of the NBA Keffi Branch genuinely as you all mark your 2026 Law Week.
Your chosen theme, goes to the heart of why we took the oath in the first place. In a society where tensions run high and trust in institutions is tested daily, the lawyer’s role extends beyond the courtroom. We are mediators, interpreters of the law, and often the first line of defence for the vulnerable. Keffi Branch has shown, through its steady leadership and engaged membership, that the Bar in Nasarawa remains alive to that responsibility.
What stands out about Keffi is not just its growth in numbers, but its growth in purpose. Purposeful leadership paired with active members is how a branch moves from being a social body to being a force for civic stability. That is the kind of relevance the profession needs right now.
Law Week offers more than speeches and panels. It is a rare chance to step back from case files and court diaries, to remind ourselves why we do this work. I hope this week sparks candid conversations, practical takeaways for practice, and renewed camaraderie that outlasts the event itself. The strongest branches are built not just on policy, but on relationships and shared commitment to the ideals of the profession.
May your deliberations be fruitful, your bonds deepened, and your resolve to uphold justice and promote peace strengthened.
Go forth from this Law Week not just celebrated, but recharged—ready to be the steady hand in your communities and the voice of reason in moments that demand it.
Wishing NBA Keffi Branch an impactful and memorable celebration.
Yours in service,
Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam, Esq, ACIArb(UK), ANICArb, ACIS, AICMC, ACTI.
