I congratulate the Chairman, Executive Committee, and entire membership of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch on your 2026 Law Week holding from 19th –
25th June, 2026.

Your theme, “Altering the Status Quo: Going Against the Norm”, is timely and daring. The law thrives when we question old habits, challenge complacency, and test ideas that make justice sharper and practice fairer. Going against the norm is not rebellion for its own sake. It’s responsibility. It’s choosing innovation over inertia, ethics over convenience, and reform over routine.

Ikeja Branch has always led bold conversations. This week’s deliberations can push us past myths that hold the profession back, the myth that change is risky, that tradition cannot evolve, that profitability must stand apart from integrity. By altering the status quo, we protect the welfare of lawyers and the public we serve.

I wish the leadership and members incisive debates, fresh perspectives, and a Law Week that leaves the Bar stronger than we met it. May your discussions turn conviction into action.
