Amotekun Rescues Two Abducted Fulani Herders in Ondo Forest
Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued two young Fulani herders who were abducted while grazing cattle in a forest along the Ondo–Edo State boundary.
According to reports, the victims failed to return home after taking their cattle out to graze, prompting their parents to raise an alarm and seek assistance from the security outfit. In response, Amotekun operatives commenced a coordinated search operation in collaboration with the families of the victims.
The Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that the search team successfully traced the kidnappers’ hideout deep within the forest. On sighting the operatives, the suspected abductors reportedly fled the camp, abandoning the two victims, who were rescued unharmed.
The successful operation adds to recent efforts by the Ondo State security outfit to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state through intelligence-led operations and rapid response initiatives. Authorities have indicated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
