At the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association NBA Makurdi Branch Law Week 2026, Olumuyiwa Akinboro SAN charged lawyers to embrace innovation and artificial intelligence or risk becoming irrelevant in a rapidly evolving profession.

He commended the Branch leadership for organising a purposeful and impactful Law Week, describing it as a reflection of intentional leadership and commitment to growth.

Akinboro warned that the future of legal practice is already unfolding, driven by technology and faster access to legal information. He noted that lawyers who adopt digital tools will remain competitive, while others may struggle to keep up.

He also praised the support of Airtel Nigeria, stressing the importance of partnerships in driving capacity building and professional development.

He urged the Bar to prioritise innovation, strengthen continuing legal education, and equip lawyers especially young practitioners with the skills needed to thrive in a technology driven era.
