Special Courts For Corrupt Practices, Welcome Development- Journalist

CourtAn Abuja-based media consultant, Mr Abuh Adamu, on Monday commended the Federal Government for its resolve to establish special courts for corruption cases.Adamu in Abuja said that the announcement of the intention on the courts by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo in his Democracy Day speech was welcomed. He said that it was ridiculous that enough conviction had not been secured in corruption cases in spite of the arrests and dozens of arraignments witnessed in the last two years.According to him, the president must live up to his assurances that Nigeria belongs to all and not to privileged few, who believe it is their birthright to lord it on the citizenry perpetually.“Clamping the corrupt ones in jail would surely send the signal that he is not playing politics with the anti-corruption mantra of his administration.“Government’s inability to secure the conviction of obviously corrupt persons has made a mockery of the anti-graft campaign of this administration.“It is also heartwarming to learn that those involved in the prosecution of corrupt cases will get further training to achieve the desired goal,” he said.Adamu also commended the Federal Government for its efforts at tackling the menace of herdsmen in the country.“I also welcome government’s commitment to tackle the menace of killer herdsmen whose nefarious activities has been threatening the peace and stability of the nation”.Adamu urged the government to be more committed to bringing an end to the menace of the herdsmen across the country.“I call on the government to intensify its commitment in ensuring the safety of lives and property of Nigerians,” he said.
