Former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Frank Mba, has formally opened his law firm, Frank Mba Legal, in Abuja, marking his transition into private legal practice after 34 years of service in the Nigeria Police Force.
The unveiling took place on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the firm’s office in Wuse 2, Abuja, coinciding with Mba’s birthday celebration.
The event attracted prominent personalities, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; former Inspectors-General of Police, Mohammed Dahiru Abubakar and Usman Alkali Baba; and Pastor Jerry Eze, Convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD).
Others in attendance included Chairman of Chrome Group, Chief Emeka Offor; retired Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, Sadiq Abubakar, Tijani Baba and Dan Kwara; as well as members of the National Assembly.
Three serving Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, Ekene Onwuemeelie, Isiyaku Abubakar and Suleiman Mohammed, also attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Mba explained that his decision to establish a law firm was informed by his desire to continue contributing to society through the legal profession.
He said his experience in policing, leadership, conflict management and the administration of justice would provide a valuable foundation for his new professional undertaking.
“Retirement is not the end of service; it is an opportunity to serve in a different capacity,” Mba said.
He explained that his years in the police had equipped him with practical knowledge and experience that he intended to combine with his legal training in serving clients and promoting justice.
The former police chief described law as an important instrument for protecting rights, resolving disputes and strengthening public confidence in institutions.
He added that his ambition was to establish a legal practice built on trust, professionalism and high ethical standards.
Mba retired from the Nigeria Police Force in March 2026 after 34 years of service, during which he occupied several senior positions.
He served three separate terms as Force Public Relations Officer and previously held the position of Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State.
He also served as Commissioner of Police in Ogun State and headed the Department of Training and Development as a member of the Force Management Team.
Despite his extensive policing career, Mba has long possessed the academic and professional qualifications required for legal practice.
He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Lagos and attended the Nigerian Law School, where he received an academic award.
He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002 and subsequently earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Dundee, Scotland, graduating with distinction.
His professional experience also includes international service with the Nigerian police contingent to the United Nations Mission in Liberia between 2006 and 2007, for which he received the United Nations Medal.
The unveiling of Frank Mba Legal represents a new chapter for the former police spokesman as he moves from law enforcement into private legal practice, bringing together his legal qualifications and decades of experience in public service.
The event also provided an opportunity for former colleagues, associates and well-wishers to celebrate his birthday and the commencement of his new professional journey.
