NBA Ikeja Electoral Committee Draws Attention of Members to Uniform Bye-law, Restricts Campaign Until Guidelines are Issued.



The NBA Ikeja Electoral Committee has drawn the attention of members to sections 17(1) & 15(8) of the Umiform Bye-law.

You will recall that the Committee was constituted at a Virtual Meeting of the Branch on Tuesday, 14th May, 2020

Read below the committee’s first information to members signed by the Secretary, Mary Eluwa.

Distinguished seniors / colleagues,

The Electoral Committee of the NBA Ikeja branch is compelled to draw the attention of the members of the branch to the following provisions of Uniform Bye- law of the constitution of the NBA.

Section 15(8) prohibits the publication, printing or distribution of any campaign material and states that any candidate who contravenes this provision shall be disqualified from being voted for.

Section 17(1) provides inter alia
“… no candidate shall commence any form of public campaign until the campaign guidelines are issued and released.”

The Electoral Committee shall adhere to the provisions of the Uniform Bye-Law pertaining to the conduct of the election and therefore expects all members of the branch to act in compliance with the same.

Any aspirant who acts in violation of the Uniform Bye- law will be disqualified from contesting the election.
