Lawyer Faults Judgments De-freezing Accounts

A lawyer, Morakinyo Ogele, has faulted the judgment of a Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, which ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Zenith Bank to de-freeze the accounts of Governor Ayo Fayose.Ogele, in a statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday, described the judgment by Justice Taiwo Taiwo as “another fantastic embarrassment to Nigerians”.He said it was wrong for the court to set aside an interim order granted by a Federal High Court in Lagos presided over Justice Muhammed Idris on June 24, pending the final investigation by the EFCC.Ogele, who is also the National Coordinator of Ekiti Redemption Group (ERG), said the Ado-Ekiti court erred in law by setting aside the order of another court of coordinate jurisdiction “thus sitting as a Court of Appeal”.The lawyer said it was wrong for the court to claim that Fayose’s right was unconstitutionally infringed upon insisting that “no governor has any right to loot the treasury he holds in trust for the people”.Source : The Nation
