Judicial Independence: Adesina Adegbite (AA) Advocates For A Reawakening and Sustainable Activism.

Adesina Adegbite (popularly known as AA) was a Special Guest at the ongoing Annual Law Week of the NBA Ado Ekiti Branch.

While discussing the Lead Paper presented by Chukwuka Ikwuazom SAN, AA stated that the Nigerian Bar Association needs to wage a serious war through categorical and sustained engagements of the Government particularly the Executive and the legislators on the need to ensure total independence of the judiciary. According to AA, “it is time for us to be more proactive and pragmatic in our activism towards cleansing of the mess in our justice sector.” He also canvassed for a stiff disciplinary action against judicial officers and legal practitioners who compromised the ethics of the profession.

According to AA, the citizenry and the society are the greatest victims of a compromised or corrupted justice sector. It is therefore, a matter of urgent emergency, that the Bar must rise to the rescue of the people and the justice system by ensuring the independence of the judiciary, through financial autonomy and non-interference in it’s activities; while also ensuring that the bad heads on the Bench gets booted out.

AA also attended the evening event tagged the “bonfire night” organised by the NBA Ado Ekiti Branch as part of the Law Week activities. AA congratulated the Branch Chairman Adeyemi Adewumi Esq, the Branch officers and the Law Week Planning Committee for putting together an epoch making Law Week with laudable innovative programmes.
