It is with great delight that I extend my solidarity and felicitations to the entire members of the Port Harcourt and Aba Branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), as they conduct their elections tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, 25th and 26th June 2020, respectively. Free, fair and credible election is one of the pillars of a true democracy. As lawyers, I encourage us to promote democracy and good governance, and to maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and discipline during the elections.
Therefore, I call on all members of the Branches to ensure that the voting process is conflict free and transparent. It is vital to bear in mind that election is not a do-or-die affair and that the credibility of the electoral process is key in electing new leaders who will promote the rule of law, foster the course of justice and promote unity amongst the members of the Branches.
