There was confusion at the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday night after fire broke out in one of the hostels.

The fire, said to have followed a loud bang, started around 10pm, causing panic among students.

Although no life was lost, some students who allegedly jumped down for fear of being burnt, were said to have sustained injuries and later rushed to the hospital.

The Nation gathered that an underground cable had exploded which led to a spark on the first floor of the five-storey hostel.

It was learnt that the intervention of guards at the school stopped the fire from escalating before the arrival of fire service officials.

Some of the students were also alleged to have fled their rooms naked and only returned after the situation was brought under control.
