Deacon Dele Adesina, SAN, has expressed his displeasure over the illegal detention of a lawyer, Onari Taylor Harry.
Onari Taylor Harry is a member of the NBA Degema Branch, in Rivers State.
Onari Taylor Harry was allegedly arrested and illegally detained by Rivers State Command of the Nigerian Police Force for carrying out his role as a lawyer.
Condemning this outrageous act, Deacon Adesina noted that “this continuous abuse of lawyers by other institutions and agencies is a great disservice to the country.
“Lawyers are the first humans and should be treated with dignity and respect.
“Secondly, with the heavy responsibility of saving lives and property hoisted on us due to the choice of profession, it is only trite that lawyers are accorded the respect they duly deserve.
“This act by the Police is highly condemnable.
“A team of lawyers to go to the Rivers State Command is already in motion.
“We would do all that is necessary to support members of the Branch in aiding a fellow colleague out of this unjustifiable circumstance,” the Learned Silk, said.
