Senator Francis Fadahunsi has arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo for questioning over his controversial remarks captured in a viral video ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, arrived at the command headquarters on Wednesday afternoon following an invitation by the police.

The senator arrived around 2:35 p.m. in the company of the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Erale.

The police had invited Fadahunsi over alleged comments considered threatening and capable of inciting violence during an APC campaign event in Ilesa.

In the viral video, the senator was alleged to have directed supporters to “kill” members of the Accord Party, a claim that sparked widespread condemnation ahead of the election.

Fadahunsi later clarified that his statement was  political and that he meant supporters should “kill Accord with votes” rather than through violence.

The development comes amid heightened tension in Osun ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with security agencies warning political actors against inflammatory statements capable of disrupting the poll.

    More details later.
