2023: Peter Obi receives endorsement of Edo PDP Leaders and Delegates

Obaseki says PDP must embrace equity, fairness

PDP Presidential aspirant, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, met with leaders, elders and delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, in Nigeria’s South-South region. Mr. Obi’s visit to Edo State is coming after he met PDP delegates in Ogun and Lagos States on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

Mr. Peter Obi who was hosted by the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, took time to also consult with former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion and visited the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, whose wife was celebrating her 70th birthday on thesame day.

Governor Obaseki expressed his gratitude to Mr. Peter Obi for honouring Edo State PDP leaders and delegates. He stated that the PDP must consider equity and inclusiveness in it’s choice of Presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

According to Gov. Obaseki, “Our view is that this country cannot be preserved and sustained if there is no fairness and equity. We all must feel that we are part of this country and have access and opportunities like every one of us in this country. As we approach the 2023 elections, we must realize that for us to preserve our country, all parts of this country must feel included in the politics.”

Governor Obaseki further stated that “The situation where any part, unit, or zone is left out, not considered fit, or seen as not having what it takes to provide leadership is only setting the basis for a crisis. Anything that is not inclusive, Edo is not part of it because Edo wants us to build a strong and united country so that we can face the challenges that are ahead of us”.

Mr. Peter Obi, while addressing the Edo State PDP leaders and delegates stated that he is conversant with the realities of Nigeria’s challenges and that he is very capable of bringing solutions to the myriads of challenges.

Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State chairman of the PDP in his remarks, said, “We will have our consultations and, by the grace of God, our support for you will be total.”
