United States President, Joe Biden has charged Nigerians to go out on Saturday to vote for the presidential candidate of their choices.

Biden, in a statement said elections were fundamental part of a functioning democracy and that all Nigerians deserved this chance to choose their future freely and fair.

He charged Nigerians, especially the youths and irrespective of their religion, region or ethnicity to exercise their franchise.

Biden said it was by doing this that they would make their voices heard in the nation’s democracy.

The US’ president emphasised that his country did not have any particular candidate of choice and would not support anyone.

He stated that the US would support a peaceful and transparent process that reflected the will of the people of Nigeria.

In his words: “Elections are a fundamental part of a functioning democracy, and all Nigerians deserve this chance to choose their future, freely and fairly.

“On election day, I encourage all Nigerians, no matter their religion, region, or ethnicity, to exercise this fundamental freedom and make their voices heard, including young voters, many of whom may be heading to the ballot box for the first time.

“While the United States does not support any single candidate or party, we strongly support a peaceful and transparent process that reflects the will of the people of Nigeria.”
