UCHENNA NWADIALO’S PROFILE

Uchenna Nwadialo is a Senior Associate in the law firm of Emeka Ngige & Co.; a full service law firm with branches in Lagos, Abuja and Awka. She has been with the firm since 2010, precisely for a period of 10 years.

She holds a bachelor of law degree LL.B [Hons] from Madonna University, B.L [Hons] from the Nigerian Law School, [Lagos Campus] and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 2008.

Uchenna’s practice areas include civil and commercial litigation, dispute resolution and entertainment law.

Her interest in civil litigation was inspired by her father, Fidelis Nwadialo SAN, a renowned jurist and author of the popular book ‘Civil Procedure in Nigeria’ often referred to as the ‘Lawyers Red Bible’; a text which has been of invaluable assistance to practising lawyers in the interpretation and clear elucidation of civil procedure rules and practice.

With the recent trend of globalization in legal practice, business of legal practice and emerging global market order, Uchenna found a special passion for the creative industry.

Her desire to master the intricacies of the industry, drove her to take courses and programmes in Media and Entertainment Law.

She has since become a major influence in the sector with her specialised legal knowledge in entertainment, events management, record-labelling, music, movie, fashion, photography and graphics.

Being a litigation lawyer with keen interest in the creative industry, it broadened Uche’s horizon of what good social activities could bring to the schedule of legal practitioners.

She is a passionate member of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, and a financial member of the Lagos branch of the association where her organizational skills and efficiency have received positive reviews and commendations.

Between 2015 -2017, she held the position of Assistant Secretary, NBA Lagos branch where she performed her role as principal adviser to the secretary with matters relating to the policies of the NBA Lagos branch and she equally brought her creativity, administrative and secretarial skills to the day-to-day running of the Secretariat.

In her role as the Assistant Secretary, Uche actively supported the Secretary who had the herculean task of being the chief administrative officer of the branch. She assisted with correspondences, reports, record keeping, meeting notification, minute taking, branch asset management etc.

She played a key role in the overall success of the branch with her efficient record keeping, communication and correspondence skills. She organised trainings for the secretariat staff and initiated leadership seminars and workshops for the Executive committee upon their approval.

On occasions when the Secretary was unavoidable absent, she fitted into the role seamlessly to the admiration of members.

Following her sterling performance, a quintessential barman Uche was elected as Social Secretary of the branch in 2017. As Social Secretary of the association, ‘Uchgal’ as she is fondly called made sure lawyers got the best out of their social engagements.

Uche’s trademark organizational skills distinguished her as a classic planner that brings colour, panache, glitz and finesse to any branch event.

She played a key role in the huge successes recorded in the branch’s events particularly the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Annual Bar Dinners. Uche in her service to the branch also negotiated highly discounted air flights and hotel rates for members.

Aside the branch, Uche has also served in various committees of the National body having attended the NBA Annual General Conferences from 2010 -2019.

She was a member of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning [TCCP] and Local Organizing Committee [LOC] of the 2019 Annual General Conference of the NBA that was held in Lagos.

Uche is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the NBA and attends NEC meetings of the association.

In recognition of her organizational skills and her passion for the creative industry, she was tasked with the responsibility of co-ordinating one of the sessions at the 2019 Annual General Conference in Lagos tagged ‘Keeping up with the creatives’

Uchenna is also a member of several professional and non-professional bodies; she is a member of the International Bar Association [IBA], International Federation of Women Lawyers [FIDA], African Women Lawyers Association [AWLA], Nigerian Bar Association Women Lawyers [NBAWF], Lions Club International and is the Welfare Secretary of Surulere Lawyers Forum [SLF].

A well rounded individual trained in the best culture and tradition of Ossomala clan in Anambra State, Uchenna is a member of Otu’Oka Iwu, Lagos.

Uche’s hobbies include travelling, events management and graphic designs.
