Two pupils arrested for setting teachers’ books ablaze in Ogun

Two pupils of Community Primary school in Isheri Olofin in Ifo Local Government area of Ogun state have been taken into custody for setting books belonging to their teachers and the classmates ablaze.

The two pupils who are six and nine years old were apprehended on the 29th of October 2023 when a chief in the community reported the ugly incident to the Division police in Isheri.

Ogun Police Command spokesperson, Sp Omolola Odutola, in a statement, revealed that the Chief reported that the pupils gained access to one of the unlocked classrooms at the school, then proceeded to gather books left behind by the teachers and pupils and set them on fire.

He said the value of the damaged books is currently unknown.

“Upon receiving the report, the Anti-Crime and Detectives visited the scene and brought the alleged children to the police station for interrogation.

“However the police revealed that investigation are still on going as to the reason why the pupils set their school ablaze and if they were been sent by someone,” Odutola said.
