President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of retired Justice Mukhtar Muhammad Dodo, a former Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 70.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late jurist as an upright and fearless officer of the law whose decades-long service left lasting imprints on Nigeria’s judiciary.

Justice Dodo, a native of Katsina State, had a distinguished legal career.

He served as Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria before being elevated to the bench as a judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, where he continued to contribute to the development of the nation’s justice system until his retirement.

President Tinubu hailed the deceased as a patriotic Nigerian who dedicated his life to strengthening judicial institutions and upholding the rule of law.

“Justice Dodo was an upright judicial officer and a fearless jurist who spent his life contributing to the strengthening of Nigeria’s judicial system,” the President said.

He prayed for the repose of the retired justice’s soul and asked Allah to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The President extended his condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, as well as the Dodo family, urging them to find comfort in the impactful legacy left behind by the late jurist.
