A cashier at Pinnacle Filling Station in Lekki, Lagos, Shakiru Anyanwale, 39, has been arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court over allegations of fraud involving N4,195,000.

According to police reports, Anyanwale was accused of diverting proceeds from fuel sales into his personal account rather than remitting them to the company.

The alleged offence took place between 3 June and 16 July 2025, during working hours.

The matter came to light after an internal audit reportedly uncovered discrepancies in the accounts, prompting the station’s management to lodge a complaint with the Divisional Police Officer of Maroko Division, Lekki.

Police operatives subsequently arrested the defendant at his residence on Anyanwale Crescent, Dalemo, Alakuko, Ogun State.

Prosecution counsel Reuben Solomon told the court that Anyanwale, entrusted with handling daily financial transactions, allegedly abused his position by diverting company funds.

He noted that the offence contravenes Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate N. Oseni-Wahab granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum and ordered his remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility until bail conditions are met.

The case has been adjourned to 7 November 2025 for mention.
