The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has played down the judgment of the Federal High Court (FHC), Ibadan, delivered on Friday, insisting that the ruling poses no threat to the party’s leadership or internal stability.
In a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party said the court merely declined to grant an order of mandamus on the grounds that doing so would amount to sitting on appeal over decisions of courts of coordinate jurisdiction.
According to the PDP, its legal team has already been instructed to file an appeal immediately and pursue all necessary legal steps to protect the party’s position.
The party further stated that the Kabiru Turaki–led PDP, which emerged from the Ibadan Convention, remains legally intact and unshaken, pending a final determination by the appellate courts.
“We urge our members to remain resolute and committed as there is absolutely no cause for alarm,” the statement said.
The PDP also reaffirmed that its REBIRTH movement remains firmly on course, expressing confidence that the appeal process would resolve the matter in its favour.
