Ooni of Ife Hosts Egbe Amofin Oodua Ahead of 2026 National Conference in Osun

Ile-Ife, Osun State — The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, received a delegation of the Egbe Amofin Oodua at his palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State, ahead of the association’s 2026 National Conference.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN, and included the Secretary of the Forum, Prince Adetunji Oso, SAN; Welfare Secretary, Mr. Seun Akomolafe; Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee for Osun 2026, Dr. Murtala Abdul-Rasheed, SAN; Alternate Chairman of the CPC and Past General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Adesina Adegbite; alongside other members from Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo States.

The visit commenced with a guided tour of the palace, where delegates were taken through the history of Oduduwa, the evolution of the Ooni institution, and the traditional system of governance prior to the pre-colonial era.

During the audience, Aare Olagunju, SAN, expressed appreciation to the monarch for receiving the delegation and acknowledged his contributions to peace and socio-economic development in Yorubaland. He also formally informed the Ooni of the forthcoming Egbe Amofin Oodua National Conference scheduled to hold from 17th to 19th June 2026 in Ile-Ife.

In his response, the Ooni expressed delight at the visit and commended the choice of Ile-Ife as the host city, describing it as the cradle of the Yoruba people. He further conveyed his readiness to host the conference’s welcome cocktail and to support efforts aimed at ensuring a successful event.
