Obi leads Tinubu in Lagos

The candidate of Labour Party in last Saturday’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has taken a slight lead over Bola Tinubu, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State in the results of 17 out of the 20 local government areas of the state declared so far.

Tinubu is trailing Obi by a slim margin of 1,686 votes in 17 out of the 20 local governments’ results announced before the declaration of results was suspended early Monday morning.

But Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State is leading Obi by the number of local governments won.

The APC candidate has won 10 local government areas, polling a total of 447,192 votes.

However, Obi polled his 448,878 votes from seven local governments.

Tinubu won in Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland and Surulere LGAs, while Obi took Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo and Somolu.

However, the return from Mushin Local Government was not validated before adjournment of announcement due to some differences noticed at the Collation Centre in Yaba.
