Obasanjo a sadist, serial betrayer – Gen. Alabi-Isama

A Civil War veteran and author of The Tragedy of Victory: On-the-Spot Account of the Nigeria-Biafra War in the Atlantic Theatre, Brig.-General Godwin Alabi-Isama (Retd.) says former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a sadist and a serial betrayer of the Yoruba.

The octogenarian general said this in the wake of Chief Obasanjo’s outrageous call on Monday, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from further releasing the results of the Feb. 25 presidential election in Nigeria.

The outraged 82-year-old former Chief of Staff of the famous Third Marine Commandos of the Nigerian Army who was at a time with Obasanjo at the war front towards the end of the war said “Obasanjo had betrayed us and got away with it for too long. He has always gotten away somehow with treachery. Not this time.”

The elder statesman relayed how he had studied Obasanjo as far back as 1969 and warned his bosom friend and colleague at the war theatre, Gen. Alani Akinrinade (retd.) to be wary of Obasanjo.

“During NADECO Obasanjo was their chairman and Danjuma was a member. Did they not betray Jimmy (Alani Akinrinade) eh? That was why I kept away. Jimmy had always supported Obasanjo.

“Jimmy has just seen what I warned him against since 1969. I am happy that we are alive to see this. He hates Yorubas with a passion. From mama Fela to Chief Shodipo to Ige to Alhaja Suliat to Harry Marshall to Chief Afolabi. He wrote a letter to Chief Obafemi Awolowo and copied NSO. He is a sadist,” the General concluded.

It will be recalled that Gen. Alani Akinrinade was shocked that a former two-term president could call for the democracy he had enjoyed in his country to be truncated. He immediately released a press statement describing Obasanjo as a danger to democracy and an interloper.
