OAU jacks up fees for students, freshers hit most

The authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, have adjusted upwards the fees that students will pay this academic session.

In a statement, Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, said new students in the Faculties of Arts, Law and Humanities will pay N151, 200, a triple jump from N43,700, hitherto paid.

Old students of the same faculties will pay N89,200. There used to be a uniform fee regime for old and new students.

New students enrolling in the Faculties of Technology and Science, will pay N163, 200 and the returning students of the same faculties are to pay N101,200. The fee hitherto charged for these categories of students was N54,700.

New students being admitted into the Faculties in the College of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Pharmacy have their fee jacked up from N57,700.

They will pay N190, 200, while the old students will pay N128, 200.

According to Olarewaju, the decision was taken by the Senate of the University at its emergency meeting on Tuesday, 12th September, 2023.
