“MY MODEST RECORD WHEN I SERVED AS ASSISTANT PUBLICITY SECRETARY SPEAKS FOR ME” – LEADING PUBLICITY SECRETARY CANDIDATE, LAWAL AKOREDE HABEEB

Dear Learned Silks, Seniors and Colleagues,

I do believe that records are always there to guide future choices.

I served as your Assistant Publicity Secretary between 2018 and 2020 and with sense of humility, I served our Bar with credit. As the National Assistant Publicity Secretary between 2018 and 2020, I was acknowledged as a responsive national officer who was always on hand to render information and engage colleagues.

While I was the youngest member of the team, I enjoyed the confidence of the NBA President and Publicity Secretary and with their support and that of other national officers, I leveraged on tech and social media to improve NBA’s information dissemination system.

Below are some of the ascertainable achievements I recorded as NBA’s Assistant Publicity Secretary between 2018 and 2020:

«  Initiated the setting up of a toll free line (08003331111) at the NBA Secretariat in 2019.
«  Negotiated the Free Law Pavilion Scheme for Nigerian young lawyers in 2020.
«  Supervised the NBA ICT Team in the creation of the NBA Membership Portal in 2020.
«  Supervised the NBA ICT Team in the deployment of the first online Bar Practising Fee payment option in 2019.
«  Designed the NBA Bar Practising Fee Electronic Receipt to accommodate the necessary details as present in the bank tellers in 2019.
«  Effectively handled existing NBA social media platforms and created new ones.
«  Increased the followers on NBA Official Twitter account from 10,000 in 2018 to 24,600 in 2020.
«  Regularly wrote about the activities of the NBA in print and electronic media.
«  Regularly and promptly availed members information about the NBA via emails and social media platforms.
«  Regularly appeared on TV programmes to render the perspectives of the NBA on national issues and issues affecting The Bar and administration of justice.
«  Had responsibility for the successful management of NBA’s ICT concerns.

If given the mandate to serve as your Publicity Secretary, I am committed to even doing more. Do take a look at my manifesto to see what more I intend to do to improve the public perception of our Bar. https://www.ecnba.ng/lawal-akorede-habeeb
