Kazeem Bakare remanded for allegedly stabbing man to death

An Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court, Ibadan on Thursday ordered that an unemployed man, Kazeem Bakare, 42, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly stabbing a man to death.

The police charged Bakare, whose residential address was not provided with murder.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A Akande did not take the plea of Bakare for lacking jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Philip Amusan told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Oct. 20, at about 9. 30 a.m, in the Onimalu area of Ibadan.

She adjourned the case until Dec. 19 for DPP’s advice.

Amusan alleged that Bakare caused the death of Jelili Saka, 40 when he stabbed him with a broken bottle of beer in the neck.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 319 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
