Legal Nigeria

Joyce Oduah FICMC extends heartfelt congratulations to the Chief Judge of Lagos State, the Lagos State Judiciary and all members of the legal profession in Lagos State on the commencement of the 2023/2024 Legal Year

In her goodwill message she stated that the new legal year provided an opportunity for Judicial Officers to renew their commitment to uphold the integrity of the Judiciary. She stated that it is their sacred duty to dispense justice without bias or fear, ensuring that the scales of justice remain impeccably balanced.

According to Joyce, the commencement of the Legal Year was not just a momentous occasion for the Bench but also equally significant for the Bar. “Let us lawyers remember that we are the ministers in the temple of justice. With this esteemed role comes the responsibility to be faithful and diligent in upholding the sacred principles of the rule of law and justice.”

She observed that the legal profession was once again under the spotlight, especially concerning the administration of justice and the rule of law. She emphasized that the new legal year is a time for reflection, a time to assess the strengths and weaknesses within the justice system. She stated that necessary reforms and interventions were imperative to enhance the quality of the justice delivery system for the betterment of the profession, Lagos State, and the nation.
“Together, we can illuminate the path towards a stronger, fairer, and more just legal system.”
