Ibadan man docked for lying against pastor, family

A 58-year-old Ibadan man identified as Michael Oritudafila has been arraigned for lying to the police that one Pastor Adekunle Obasa and threatening his life.

Oritudafila was arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan on Friday on one-count charge of giving false information, to which he pleaded not guilty. The Prosecutor, Insp Samuel Owolabi told the court that the defendant whose address was not provided, committed the offence on April 24, 2025, at police headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan.

Owolabi alleged that the defendant gave the police false information that one Pastor Adekunle Obasa and his family stole his 250 blocks and also threatened his life.

He alleged that the defendant deliberately volunteered the information knowing it was false, and therefore committed an offence contrary to provisions of Section 125(A) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 2, for hearing. (NAN)
