A Federal High Court in Ibadan on Monday ordered a suspected drug dealer, Oluwatobi Salako to be remanded in the correctional centre for allegedly trafficking 138.6kg of cannabis sativa, a narcotic substance.
Justice Nkeonye Maha ordered Salako to be remanded in Agodi custodian facility after he pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of unlawful dealing in Cannabis instituted against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command.
Maha adjourned the suit until Jan. 26 for trial.
The prosecuting counsel, Mrs Rachael Ige had told the court that the defendant committed the alleged crime on Oct. 26 in Igana, Ibarapa area of Oyo State.
Ige added that NDLEA operatives received intelligence reports from informants that Salako was in possession of a huge quantity of cannabis which he was selling to people.
She said that the operatives later apprehended the defendant in possession of 138.6kg of the illicit substance.
