How my marital challenges pushed me into depression – Emeka Ike (Video)

Nigerian actor Emeka Ike has revealed that his prolonged struggle with depression was due to his marital issues.

He spoke during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday’s programme, Rubbin’ Minds hosted by media personality Hero Daniels.

He said he feels ashamed because of his inability to deal with his marital challenges, which eventually led to his battle with depression.

The 56-year-old actor’s marriage ended on July 13, 2015, dissolved by a Lagos Island Customary Court following allegations of continuous battery.

He also claimed that the shift from VCD to larger screens impacted his career and those of some of his colleagues, who faded from the scene without inclusion.

Moreover, Emeka disclosed that he faced threats from assassins and gunmen who are targeting his life without reason.

When asked how he overcame the challenges, he said he decided to focus on self-improvement, stating, “When you realize that they’re actually after you for who you are, you ask yourself, ‘what do I do next?’. I just kept doing the things I needed to do properly. I kept working on myself to be who I am now”

Emeka has made a return to the Nollywood industry, featuring in Toyin Abraham’s upcoming movie, ‘Malaika’.
