The raging war of words over the authorship of the petition against the wife of the Senate president, Mrs Toyin Saraki, which is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has assumed a worrisome dimension as it is now marred in fresh allegation of forgery.
The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Olawoye, who were alleged authors of the controversial petition to the EFCC, yesterday, dissociated themselves from it.
In a chat with journalists, Olawoye said neither him nor the PDP had anything to do with the petition accusing Mrs Saraki of money laundering as the first lady of Kwara State. He said his signature on the petition was forged, while the authorship credited to PDP was pure impersonation.
Olawoye stated that the PDP in the state called an emergency meeting for yesterday (Monday) to discuss the forgery and fashion out how to redress the situation.
The party spokesman said it was high time the party tamed the monster of forgery and impersonation that certain people were always dragging it into, in the politics of the state, adding that the current situation was the second time such would be rearing its head.
Senator Joseph Waku had accused former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, of being behind the petition. Tinubu denied the allegation.
